Digital Portfolios: Tracking Proficiency with ChromeBooks
My students need Chromebooks to allow them to interact with all facets of foreign language education. By having Chromebooks, they will be able to digitally save their work and transcribe their own speaking assignments.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach high school students from an inner city environment. Many of our students are neighborhood children, but we also have students who participate in the Optional program. These students are advanced and choose to come to our school for the wide range of advanced offerings.
My students work hard to break down barriers because of their skin tone, their ethnicity, and their gender identity every day.
They are truly each one of a kind. Their desire to express their differences also allows them to acknowledge their similarities. They are truly the future of our country.
My Project
The students will use ChromeBooks to create digital portfolios. Within these portfolios, they will be able to upload their speaking, reading, and writing assignments to keep a year-long log of their proficiency. This will allow them to track their progress in language learning throughout the entire year.
In addition, they will be able to save and transcribe their own speaking assignments.
This will allow them to find their own mistakes in their speech to help them develop a greater understanding of their own proficiency. The students will be able to continue to process their proficiency through their own content and truly see their progress throughout the year.
