My students need the scanner to digitize their work for online portfolios. Headphones are used to make recordings and practice listening. The computer is for students who need to use window-based programs.
My students are taking on the challenge of learning a completely different language: Chinese, in an area where Spanish is the dominating world language.
They come from various social-economic backgrounds.
They live in East Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Mateo, San Carlos, and Belmont.
One of my goals is to use technology to help my students learn and practice the Chinese language skills through multimedia lessons, projects, games, and activities. My other goal is to ensure equitable access to technology in my classroom for all of my students.
My Project
The tools will enable my students to digitize their work and create digital summative portfolios that includes multi-media projects and audio-recordings.
Not all of my students have regular access to some of the technology tools, such as scanner, headphones, computer and audio-editing tools, having these tools in the classroom will greatly increase equity and improve their chance of successfully creating their portfolios.
Students will also have the opportunity to learn how to use various technology tools which will prepare them for using these tools in the real world, whether it's in another classroom, in college, or in the working world. Thank you.
