My music classroom is a place of rigor and and discovery. Students spend the year learning how to become better musicians and are exposed to a variety of musical styles.
The students are in grades 9-12 in a high poverty rural West Virginia school.
My students enjoy learning about music and getting the opportunity to be leaders in our school. I’ve heard many families express how music has made a positive difference in their lives. Any help is appreciated!
My Project
I am requesting another digital piano, piano benches, piano books, and a pedal board for my classroom to be used for performances, and to allow the students in piano class to have another quality, weighted keyboard to learn on. Many of the keyboards in my classroom are small, not full size, and the keys are not weighed on most of them. This will give us one more piano for the students to learn proper posture, how to sit correctly, get the proper feel and touch for a real piano, and learn more about the differences between weighted keys and non weighted keys. We also need more piano benches for the pianos we have in the classroom. I also am in need of more piano books for my classroom for students to learn from.
