Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title I school with a wide variety of languages, ethnicities, and home-life situations. Our school is part of District Reference Group “H”, which is the second-lowest socioeconomic level a school can be placed in. While we are a Title I city school, the diversity of our population is what makes this school so special.
Being a Title I city school, in the second-lowest socioeconomic level reference group, means we have over 85% of our population of students that qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
That said, many of my students struggle to have other basic needs met as well. I try not to let the lack of funding for resources be yet another obstacle for my students to have to overcome while in my classroom.
I have seen first hand, there is a wide range of skills that need to be reinforced within each class, and having access to the proper supplies and resources makes a world of difference. As I prepare to start a new year, I would love to be able to start it off with the supplies my students will need for continued success in math. With your help, that is
My Project
During this very difficult time, many of us teachers are struggling with how to keep teaching our students in the new distance learning platform. I have struggled with being able to provide my students with the same type of lessons they are used to from the classroom right to their homes.
A document camera will allow me to continue with our daily math lessons from my home to theirs.
I will be able to record and stream the math notes and discussions right to their home computer. I ask that you would please help me to provide all of my students with continued math lessons during this time of distance learning that we are all try to adapt to. A document camera will allow me to do the daily math lessons they have become so accustomed to. It will afford me the opportunity to go through the math lessons and provide them with the much needed guided notes and examples we used daily in our classroom.
During this difficult time, we are all struggling with how to reach all our students with as much consistency as possible. I thank you for your kindness and continued support during this time.
