This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are a resilient group of 3rd graders who are eager to learn! They come to school each day, regardless of home situations, ready to take risks, try new things, and give their all so that they may grow personally and academically.

Our school is nestled in the heart of Memphis, TN, a beautiful city where unfortunately, 1 in every 2 children live in areas of concentrated poverty.

Each child in my classroom adores learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best varies greatly. My students' love for learning deserves to be supported in an environment that is safe, fun, and full of ample resources that help me to encourage their diverse interests and passions, while meeting individual student's needs. Such an environment will be a catalyst in supporting their great drive to succeed.

My Project

As we sail through the 21st century, technology in the classroom is becoming more and more predominant. Tablets are replacing our textbooks and the impact that technology has on a child's education is quite significant. My third graders will use their tablets to gain access to strategic literacy intervention, in addition to a platform in which they will share their ideas with others!

This widespread adoption of technology has completely changed how teachers teach and students learn.

Help me integrate technology in the classroom, so that we can set my students up for a successful life outside of school and make learning fun!
