Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am very excited to be teaching kindergarten as a special education teacher this year in an integrated co-teaching classroom. My classroom consists of 10 students with special needs and 15 students of mixed English Language Learners and general education students. Students here are not only diverse academically, but economically and culturally as well. My students face many challenges every day, in school and out. My school has a very large population of low poverty, as well as children in shelters.
This year has brought many challenges to teachers, students, and their families.
This year I am teaching through a blended model. We follow a 3 week, 3 cohort schedule. Some days I have 6-8 students in the classroom and the rest of the class is full remote. Some days all 24 students are full remote. This has been extremely challenging!
My Project
This year has been extremely challenging since I am teaching in person and remotely. I have to plan for students everyday in the classroom, and plan everyday for my Google Classroom. The website Teachers Pay Teachers is an amazing resource for teaching both remotely and in person!
Teachers Pay Teachers has amazing google slides to help teach all subject areas.
Many teachers have already created these Google Slides that I will be able to easily use in my Google Classroom. This will save a tremendous amount of time! With the extra time I can work with the students more and give feedback to student work. Having ready made slides made by other teachers is life saving.
My students will greatly benefit from this gift card. Also, my students will have a more focused instruction that will improve not only their ability to learn, but there will also be complete engagement, which is difficult when interacting on a computer.
