My Students

Everyone in my classroom is identified somewhere on the autism spectrum. Every student has their own individual strengths that help them gain more information about their environment. Although this group is self-contained, we as a staff make sure that they have every opportunity to interact with students and adults throughout the building.

These students are incredibly resilient to routine changes.

What I love about this group is that through adversity they preserver and work hard to achieve their individual goals.

My Project

The tablets will make a difference by allowing students with autism access to academic, communication, and functional skills with immediate feedback. Academic skills will be easily accessible to everyone due to the least restrictive proprieties that technology provides. Non-verbal and emergent language students will have access to communicate with peers and staff. Students through the use of various apps will have access to a variety of functional skills to ensure that they are successful with real world concepts. Technology also provides motivation to learn. The access to technology will help my students bridge the gap between self-contained and full inclusion.
