This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a class of wonderful students who love learning. These first-graders are very active and love to be up moving around. The students in my class need opportunities to not only learn curriculum but social skills as well. They come from many different backgrounds and not all of them have support at home in which to gain those skills. They come from a very small rural county, but each and every student in my class has big dreams for their future.
My Project
Students in first grade are expected to grow six reading levels and gain a wealth of comprehension tools in one short year. They will use iPads during our Literacy centers to help review phonics skills, as well as practice their comprehension skills through reading, writing, and creating.
As a 21st Century learner, students need to be able to access technology in order to build their skills.
My students will use these iPads to create videos and projects of new learning. They will be also able to use them for research on topics we have discussed, or they have more interest in.
iPads will also be used in Math centers as well. Here they will complete differentiated assignments. Students will be making videos of themselves solve math problems to share with the class.
Overall, the iPads will be used in multiple ways throughout the day and will be a great addition to our classroom learning.
