My Students

Join our community of student learners, and you will find 18 of the most inquisitive kindergarteners. My students love to discover, engage and creatively explore the world around them. When they get settled into a good story they are extremely focused. I want to utilize their love of stories and technology to foster and enrich their academic development.

Knowing that literacy is the key to personal growth and academic success, our school focuses on reading at all learning levels.

At school, my students love to learn and develop concepts together. They like to share their successes with their classmates and visiting adults. While learning about making proactive choices, we are developing skills to set and achieve academic and personal goals. Students are also becoming great scientists using STEM. Technology is key to bringing the real world into our classroom. iPads can be used in literacy and STEM as a way to engage learners at their individual level.

My Project

Your donation will update our kindergarten technology center, which currently does not have enough iPads to accommodate a learning center. My kindergarten students will use the iPad minis and cases on a daily basis to access the intervention/enrichment program that our school uses for students. In our literacy program, they develop skills in letter awareness, phonemic awareness, phonics, sequencing and other reading skills. Your donation will allow all students to have a turn using this technology to further their learning.

Audio books will be accessible on the iPads for students to listen to and further developing their love of reading.

Audio books are crucial for developing new vocabulary, deeper experiences, and comprehension while listening to fluent readers reading. While students are engaged in the technology center, I will be able to work with other small groups on targeted instruction, interventions and progress monitoring. On top of all of the wonderful academic gains, your donation will allow my students to see first-hand that technology is just not a form of entertainment, but that there are other purposes. The use of the digital microscopes will further enhance their use of STEM and discover the beauty the smaller world around them. The idea of technology to enhance learning is extremely powerful to guiding them to become empowered and successful learners!

My kindergarten students love technology, listening to stories, and learning! By combining all three into the technology of iPads and digital microscopes there is an instant winner for motivation! I know that my students are going to love having a turn each day in our new literacy center. Your donation will ensure that all students get a chance each day to interact and use technology on their journey to becoming life-long learners! Many thanks!
