Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We live in south Texas and are part of a Title I district. I have a wonderful group of third grade kiddos in my class. My classroom consists of students with various learning styles. I have several students who are English language learners, some with special educational needs due to learning difficulties, including dyslexia, a couple who are gifted and talented, and others with ADHD and behavioral problems. This diverse group of students is always eager to learn and wild about incorporating anything hands-on or technology-related into their projects, assignments, and activities.
My students work hard daily, and their enthusiasm for learning grows when they hear that hands-on fun will somehow be involved in their work.
They have shown motivation, commitment, responsibility, and patience when it is time to use the limited amount of technology and other resources available in my classroom to complete assignments. They deserve the opportunity to extend and enrich their learning with more digital and creative learning devices and other resources for the classroom and our school.
My Project
Digital Learning Day 2020 will be on February 27th and I am eagerly planning a variety of coding projects and other digital activities for my 3rd Graders to enjoy on this day and well beyond it!
One of our center rotations includes coding activities that my students can enjoy and learn from as I like to embed our curriculum into every activity.
These Harry Potter Kano Coding Kits will allow my students to build a wand, learn and practice coding, and make magic! The wand parts include circuit board with codeable LED! My students will have the opportunity to code with 70+ step-by-step creative challenges. These hands-on learning activities through coding will help them continue to develop logical and critical thinking skills.
In addition to all the digital learning that will take place, it is important to plan and prepare well in advance on how to charge all of our technology. We are now in need of a second charging station that will help my students keep their devices and coding kits both safe and fully charged for whenever they are needed.
Please help us obtain these coding kits and maintain our newly acquired digital devices and kits charged for Digital Learning Day 2020 and Beyond! #DLDay2020
