Help me give my students and teachers tools and resources to learn more about being responsible digital citizens. Teachers will be able to check out the books to teach digital citizenship lessons.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am the Digital Learning Specialist at a Title I public school in rural Eastern North Carolina. I serve over 500 students at my elementary school, kindergarten through 5th grade, and teach students in whole class settings as well as small group settings. When I'm working with students, I constantly remind students that they should SOAR with pride by being successful, original, accountable, and respectful.
I always encourage students to explore during the learning process, discuss their findings, and record their thoughts.
I try very hard to give the students that I'm working with immediate feedback on their thinking. Many of the lessons that I write encompass hands on learning due to many of my students living in poverty.
With your support, I would be able to supply students with books for all grade levels that encourage students to be responsible digital citizens. I would set up a Digital Citizenship Library for my classroom teachers and myself to access so that we can teach all of our students how to use their iPads properly, be responsible when using the internet, and how to treat others while using technology.
My Project
Teachers will be able to check out books about using technology and why we need to be responsible when using it whenever they choose. They will read the books to their students and then teach a digital citizenship lesson that I will write to go with each book.
Funding this project will help our students realize the importance of being responsible when using their iPads each day at school and at home.
These resources will help our students for hopefully many years to come. I would like to add to the Digital Library at our school in hopes that we have an extensive library one day.
