This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students I teach attend a dedicated visual and performing arts high school in Georgia where they are required to select a major and continue on that path, whether it is in Visual Arts, Communication Arts, Dance, Theater, or Music, for the duration of their high school career.

Along with the challenging arts classes, students are taking advanced academic coursework, as well as staying involved in a number of extracurricular activities.

These students are highly motivated and extremely talented, and strive to be the best that they can be.

My Project

I upgraded my classroom set of iMacs to Mojave the latest operating system only to find out that the older drawing tablets my student used are no longer supported.

My students use drawing tablets to create digital art because using a stylus is more natural for drawing and creating than using a mouse.

The tablets will be used for the upcoming corporate ID project. Students will draw a famous artist from a hat. They will research their selected artist and find some of their most famous works. Using the artists' works as inspiration, students will select a company from a list that I provide. Based on the artwork and the company type selected, students will create a name and a logo for the company. The will go the steps of a design brief, a company logotype, sketches, digital symbols and a final color and black and white logo. Once the logo is completed students will use that logo to create a stationary set and two print advertisements that promote their company.
