My fourth grade students are culturally diverse and need multiple ways to demonstrate their learning. They are on-the-move collaborators and are working everyday to build their 21st century skills through the responsible use of digital tools. My students are curious, out-of-the-box thinkers and are constantly asking high-level questions.
I want my students to see the world around them and interact with the materials they are using in hands-on and engaging ways to light a fire for life-long learning.
My goal as a teacher is to provide my students with learning experiences that will prepare them for their academic and vocational future.
My Project
The Dell 3180 Chromebook will make a difference in our classroom by allowing my students to gain more knowledge and basic practice needed to advance their financial literacy skills. My students will use the Google Chromebook during our daily math rotations. They will access digital task cards and create their own practice problems on Google Slides to share and solve with one another. In addition, we will use the Chromebook to practice our financial literacy concepts on nearpod.com and plickers.com. With each of the programs, they will play games and practice concepts relating money amounts to decimals and fractions. These resources will introduce my students to the value of money and the importance of saving at a young age.
Technology will allow my students to take their learning beyond the textbook or a worksheet and provide them with an opportunity to create real-world money problems to apply what they are learning in math.
