My Students

The digital world is exploding and my art students are falling behind. There are so many wonderful uses for the iPad in the art curriculum. We can create new art, use apps that reinforce skills we are learning and we write about our art.

Our school is a public school located in New Jersey.

The school contains more than 500 elementary students who will all have access to this iPad when in art class. They are eager to learn and love coming to art class. We do use laptop computers, but they are very limited when it comes to making art and they are shared by the entire school so access is limited.

My Project

We are requesting 1 Apple iPad mini. We were able to acquire 2 others through the Artsonia kids art gallery. We have an average of 22 students per class who will be sharing. We are hoping to eventually add more so we can do class projects including digital drawing and painting, animation, and photo editing. We will also use them to write artist statement on the Artsonia gallery.

As we move deeper into the digital age, students need to develop skills using different kinds of media.

Having iPads in our art room will enhance the skills needed to succeed in the future.
