Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What is contemporary art without technology? In order for Rowe artists to continue to create, we need to dive into the wonderful world of digital art. Rowe artists will benefit greatly from materials that allow for expression in the 21st century.
Rowe scholars are prideful, creative, hard-working, kind, and resilient.
Our school is college focused, and our staff works tirelessly to provide the education needed for each child to reach their highest potential. Rowe is a charter school that operates out of a settlement house that serves at-risk and high-need populations. We believe that every child deserves an education that sets up them up for success, no matter their background. Currently I see all 500 students in grades K-5. Rowe will continue to grow to be a K-8 school.
My Project
I am asking for two digital cameras and 2 memory cards to allow for extra storage. These cameras will be used for a variety of reasons. Scholars will be able to document their artmaking and artwork. This is hugely important in order for scholars to share their work with others, including art shows and competitions, and document their progress. Often times Rowe artists create work that is temporary (with wood blocks, modeling clay, etc.) and documenting with a camera is the only way to keep a record. Cameras will also be used to create animation and photographs. At Rowe, students get to drive a lot of their own creation and digital cameras will allow students to express their ideas in a 21st century way.
As we all know, creative thinking is the driving force behind progress.
As a society, we need these artful people, no matter if they are visual artists, lawyers, engineers, actors, musicians, or athletes. Providing a relevant and contemporary art education to Rowe scholars is my responsibility. Scholars need technology in order to express their ideas and understand the creative world today.
