My students need a Kodak digital camera and SD memory card so that they can create digital illustrations for their writing and video recordings of their work.

Sixth graders are creative and excited, and they love to try new things. Life is, in so many ways, an adventure to them, and my job is to try to keep a few steps ahead of them to keep them motivated to learn. I teach reading, writing, and history to sixty sixth graders, and try to incorporate technology to give them some real-life experience to support their academic experiences. We also interact with other schools globally to exchange information about our communities and to learn more about other cultures.

My students have been writing and publishing daily blogs this year. Some of them have been writing stories, and others have been writing about daily life at school. I thought it would add a richness to their work if they had a digital camera to use to take pictures and short videos to accompany their blogs. I also thought that taking and posting pictures would also inspire them to write more.

I need a digital camera and a memory card. This camera will be used by the students to take pictures of daily life around school and illustrations for work they are doing, and to create videos of presentations they do to enhance their learning.

Your donation will allow my sixty students to access a technology they may not be able to access from home. They will learn how to take pictures that are safe and appropriate to post on the Internet in their protected web space online. Not only will the students this year benefit from your donation, but future classes will as well.
