Needed: A digital camera with zoom to photograph
student work and progress in low-income school.
My school has been a very low-achieving school. The teachers here are working very hard to bring our test scores and student achievement up.
Part of this process is to actively utilize the vast amounts of technology that we have at our school. We have computers in every classroom and the students are learning to use them.
Our technology coordinator has developed a school website and is beginning to give teachers access to build their own web pages. I am very technology-oriented. I use technology in my classroom throughout every day. My students love to use the computers and jump at the chance to learn when the learning process involves technology.
I want to encourage my students even more by allowing them to publish their work on the computer and then having the opportunity to share their work with family and friends who are not able to come to school to see their work.
Having a digital camera will allow me to photograph the students working together, doing projects, actively learning and producing work that demonstrates their progress towards the grade level standards. I will also be able to document school trips that we take. This will allow the me to plan lessons that extend the learning for the field trips we take. Those extended learning activities can then be sent to the place we visited as a way to encourage community involvement in our school.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
