Do you remember the first time you had your picture taken with a Polaroid Camera? Do remember watching the photo develop with great anticipation right in your hands?
The students at my school are very high performing, well exposed to the arts, and have access to many extra curricular activities before and after school.
They are eager to apply what they know and what they learn at school through various forms of technology. Digital media is an avenue well suited to do just that!
My Project
Access to a high quality digital camera in the art classroom will give students access to create a multitude of new and innovative art projects (examples: Andy Warhol inspired portrait project, photo collage art projects, interactive videos used in correlation with augmented reality apps, capture student art created throughout the year for school art website).
Students will be able to capture, document, and create a variety of multimedia artworks with a digital camera present in the art room. They will learn how to use the digital camera; they will learn the important elements of basic photography; they will share photos via wifi; and they will document their innovative projects as legitimate art works and be able to submit them for Kentucky's required arts program review.
This project enables my students to take their artistic creativity to another level - by taking them to the world of digital creation.
Had Van Gogh or Rembrandt or Warhol lived today, they would most certainly have utilized technology in their work. Perhaps the next Van Gogh is one of the talented students sitting in one of my classes. This will give those students the expressive digital outlet to express their creativity!
