My students need these Drawing Tablets to create a digital image of their artwork which they can then engrave on media of their choice such as wood, tile, glass, metal, etc.
Our high school is a comprehensive four-year public high school enrolling 515 students in grades 9-12 on the coast of Maine. Close to 50% of the students qualify for the free or reduced-price lunch program. The students involved in this project consist of anywhere between 25 and 50 students per year, grades 9-12 on the student technology team, projects in engineering class and students with a love of technology and making things.
I believe that as General George S Patton said: "Never tell a person HOW to do something, but WHAT and they will surprise you with their ingenuity." These students surprise me every day.
The students that enter the MakerSpace classroom come for a variety of reasons. Some to complete projects to use in their class, some because they work with me on the technology team and love it, some because they want to explore different technologies and others because they find success in this space. Many of these students are Freshmen and students who learn best with hands-on projects.
My Project
This project is for students to create digital images to be used in a variety of media. Making learning fun has always been a goal of mine.
These XP-Pen StarG640 6x4 Digital Graphics Tablets with Battery-free Stylus will allow the students to sketch right to the computer where they can use the images for a variety of projects.
One such project is using the tablets to create characters for game design, another to create characters for story writing projects, and yet another is to engrave their own artwork on tile, wood, glass, etc.
This is adding another dimension to art for the students to explore. Shows them how their artwork is used in industry--marketing, entertainment and product design. This may open doors for students to careers they never expected.
