My students are incredibly techie and curious. They love to learn about new technology. They are lucky to have a chance to learn about STEM technology, robotics, and coding. When we got a new 3D printer in the classroom, my students showed great interest in exploring all the different objects they could design and print.
Despite being second language learners and from low socioeconomic households, my students thirst for knowledge and need resources to express themselves creatively.
My students need the tools that will help them learn about coding, animation, design, and other creative endeavors in STE[A]M.
My Project
My students use VEX IQ robotics kits and complete virtual (video game type) challenges that sometimes require game controllers to be programmed. The gaming controllers from our robotics kits are limited, so we need more traditional game controllers to complete some of our challenges.
Arduino kits provide the opportunity for students to think like inventors.
Having Arduino kits in the classroom will mean countless project opportunities for my students. At the moment, we only have one class Arduino kit for over 30 students, and we definitely need more of these kits for more students to work collaboratively on various electronics projects.
Along with having kits with hundreds of parts, we also need containers to organize all those parts.
