Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
You can't build a house without hammers or nails. I cannot motivate our future doctors, scientists, and engineers to explore the world around them without the proper tools! My fourth graders attend a Title I school with over 70% free and reduced price lunch. In addition, many of my 46 students are second language learners who have come to use from Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria devastated their homes and uprooted their lives. These are students that have overcome language barriers, economic hardship, and a profound lack of resources, but still continue to excel. It is my daily mission to do what I can to ensure they all have the skills required to be successful and outstanding members of society!
My Project
The students in my class have been through a lot with Hurricane Maria and Irma. There are many students that have been displaced and find themselves in a situation they have never experienced before.
These Fire tablets would let my students have instant access to all the resources they need right at their finger tips.
They would have access to books in their native language. They could pull up the google translator and be able to complete their assignments as well as communicate with their classmates and teachers. These tablets can also be used to complete research in science and increase the students math fluency. The tablets could be used across all subject areas with all the various applications that could be loaded for the students.
