My first grade students crave hands-on learning to interact with our new units. They are kind, hardworking, and love collaborating with each other to grow every day.
With these new materials, I will be able to spice up our new literacy curriculum and give the students experiences that they will never forget and knowledge that they will carry with them into the next school year!
Surgical caps, lanyards, and other body system materials will allow us to have a day devoted to coming into school and pretending to be doctors as we review all the parts of the body systems we have learned. The room will be transformed into looking like a hospital and the students will enjoy a day filled with creativity and practice of what they learned.
The solar system models will then transform our room once more a few units later when we begin to learn about astronomy. The students will be provided with a daily reminder of what the solar system looks like when they see the planets and sun hanging from the ceiling and they can interact with a smaller model as well!
