My Students

I have the privilege of teaching bright-eyed students that are eager to learn. They come to school every day with an exciting thirst for knowledge. They are ready to experience and absorb as much as they can.

Most of my students are first-generation Americans or immigrant children and some are even being exposed to English for the very first time.

We are a Title I school. This means that most of the students in our school come from a low socioeconomic background, and that is why they need all the resources they can get to help improve their reading and English skills.

Some of my students also struggle with learning disabilities, Autism or ADHD. They need additional support to aid them in their academic journey and help them excel in all their learning endeavors.

My Project

Every child in my class is unique. They all have different instructional levels and to meet their specific needs we need to differentiate the instruction. We need four laptops so that my students are able to become fluent in English and learn new reading skills at their differentiated and individualized levels. These laptops will be used with programs for language acquisition such as Imagine Learning and a reading intervention program such as iReady. These laptops will also help expose my students to STEM experiences and activities that will prepare them for the future. We also need a laptop battery replacement to continue using a well-loved laptop whose battery no longer works.

Differentiated instruction is also accomplished through small group instruction in a teacher led center.

We need paper, pens, sticky notes, ink and laminating pouches to create and use materials, games, and activities that will help us target much needed skills. The paper, ink and laminating sheets will be used to create games that will help us practice letter and sound recognition, comprehension skills and vocabulary. The sticky notes and pens will be used to take notes and illustrate abstract concepts.
