Ms. Murdoch's Learning Center is populated by students with moderate Learning Diabilities and Behavior Issues.
Our middle school is in a high needs area of town, and my students are not able to afford all the classroom equipment they need.
We have some nice computers for our classroom, but we are in need of headphone sets to go with them. Many of my students are using Google Classroom to differentiate their learning differences, and need "Gamer" type headphones - with good microphones to read into.
I have purchased earbuds for my students in the past, but they do not last more than a week or two of constant use. We would like to get 12 sets of headphones to be used by my special education students.
My Project
Learning in a chaotic Middle School Resource room can be a challenge for students with learning and behavioral exceptionalities.
The students in Ms. Murdoch's Learning Center are working to differentiate instruction through the use of Google Classroom and headphones designed for gamers.
Curriculum can be differentiated and provided to students through video lessons, interactive chats, interactive writing assignments, and independendent work.
We have experimented with many different types of headphones, and have found the best for distraction reduction and sound quality are gaming headphones. The students are able to listen to and repeat the lesson as needed, even when they are not in the Learning Center environment. Once we get some decent headphones, we will be in business!
