Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are comprised of fifth-grade Special Education students who come from average- to very low-income families. We are located in Florida and more than 70 percent of the population is of Hispanic heritage including many who have recently immigrated from their home country.
The majority of my student population haven't been exposed to many of the resources that are available to them.
I teach at a school that lacks some of the critical technological resources in order to prepare my students for future careers. I want to provide opportunities for my students to be exposed to technological advances as an additional learning tool while still incorporating key elements of our curriculum.
My Project
In this day and age, there are still many students that are not receiving the data driven instruction that is necessary in order to see growth in student achievement. Every child has a varied reading ability, therefore using specific materials to enhance each child's educational journey is essential.
By using the two Apple 32 GB iPads with cases during my daily differentiated instruction time, my students will have access to the online leveled readers that target specific reading standards.
It is imperative that all students receive instruction at their level, so that they don't become frustrated with reading.
Our class goal is to create a love for reading through many avenues. These are made possible by having technology in our daily groups to access leveled stories that accommodate many different learning levels.
