My students need maps and a globe to see the similarities and differences between the two, as well as all the different places in Michigan and the world they could visit.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is made up of a mixture of different demographices as well as very different backgrounds. In our class we use these things to our advantage, to learn from one another what we can. When a class like this works together to create one environment you see a huge difference inside the classroom.
Our school is located in Flint, Michigan.
We are a high poverty school and we have students from all the surrounding areas of Flint. Although we are in a high poverty school we do the best we can for our students. Students are the main priority at our school, teachers and administration work very hard to make connects with all of our students. Our school is not just a school but we are a family.
My Project
Students will obtain the knowledge of the differences and similarities between maps and globes when studying specific locations. Using a globe will give students a better visual when learning about the Earth. The globe will help them understand that when it's day time in Michigan it is night time in China.
During lessons, students will be able to look at their maps/globe in order to locate the places we are discussing.
Students will gain the knowledge of the different continents there are. When the students are reading independently they can use their map to see exactly where the place is located.
