Different Pencils, WHAT?

My students need different pencils to learn how to work with tones of shading as they learn to draw. Getting the classroom pencil pack will give each student a set of pencils.

My Students

I am the art teacher to about 400 students. Our area has a significant amount of hardships due to lower incomes, which means 60% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches, and their home lives can be pretty scary. Coming to school is a safe environment for them.

My students are learning to draw and would love to learn how to use value with a variety of pencils..

My goal is to give my students a fun, loving, and caring environment where they feel safe to play, to learn, to love, to trust, and to just be a kid!

My Project

My students are learning the most important skill in art, how to draw. I want my students to like art and have the confidence to be able to draw anything they want.

Learning to draw with the different types of pencils will teach my students how to shade and how to make different tones and values in their images.

My students have learned a dot makes a line, a line makes a shape, and a shape makes a form. They know by breaking any image down they, too, can draw anything. This skill of shading will be able to cross over to any subject matter, such as drawing in science, illistating in English, making forms/spheres in math.
