Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Reading and Language Arts to 44 first grade students. All my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Since October our school started to serve dinner too. Some of them are still missing personal belongings due to Hurricane Harvey. Despite the many challenges they face, they love to learn! They are coming to school every single day. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can, so they can become successful in their lives.
My Project
I accommodate different learning styles by varying the types of activities and assignments presented to my students. I need Lights and Sounds Buzzers , Write-On/Wipe Off Dice, and Lowercase Alphabet Dough Stampers for my social learning style and physical learning students, who prefer to learn in groups and use their hands and sense of touch. I need a Larousse Dictionary and books for my students to read alone or with a partner, so they can improve their vocabulary and reading level. I need books with CDs for my auditory students, who prefer listening to stories. I need Washable Watercolor Brush Pens and Peel & Stick Jewels for my artistic and creative students, who prefer to implement art in their daily learning activities.
