Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

A school without die cuts. Can you believe it? I thought every school invested in this valuable equipment. Having a personal die cut machine means I won't have to travel across town to cut out dies that will allow my students to study themes from ecosystems, math, and language arts. My students will be given the opportunity to create concrete manipulatives with the dies. Too often many of the math concepts are so abstract my students have difficulty connecting it with their daily lives. Hopefully with the assistance of the die cut machine, my students will have professionally made manipulatives to learn across subjects. Too often my students are stuck with 2nd rate (teacher made) manipulatives that may not look as professional as the ones that can be mass produced by the die cut machines. I hope the machines will allow the students to make their own manipulatives and spare their teacher some time to work on planning lessons with the die cuts.
