As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Seventy-five percent of my students are on free or reduced price lunch. My school is a Title I school. This means we rely on donations and money from the government. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with many creative and meaningful learning experiences that they can use in and out of the classroom.
My Project
Online teaching is no longer a thing of the future! Teachers, including myself, are being asked to teach their students online due to COVID-19. I volunteered for this position, but didn't realize how not having the items listed in my project would effect my level of teaching.
I have asked for items that will allow me to teach remotely from my classroom or from my home.
The glasses that are in my project will save my eyes from long lasting damage after spending hours on end at the computer screen. The lighting in my classroom is not ideal, in fact most days I teach with my lights off so my students can see what I'm projecting on my Promethean Board. Having a ring light will help my students see me while learning. I have also asked for 2 Teacher Pay Teacher gift cards. These will save me from having to make everything from scratch. Lastly, the bag will allow me to transport my laptop, teacher books, and accessories with ease. Right now, I'm carrying up to 3 bags from my home to my school, daily.
These items will enhance my teaching which will allow my students to learn and understand with ease.
