My students walk into the classroom everyday, a big smile on their faces, eager and ready to learn. They are excited to meet the day's challenges and grow, and I am excited to grow and learn with them.
I call my students "my kids", because they aren't just names on a list or kids in my classroom, they become part of my heart.
All of the students in my classroom have unique needs and come from unique backgrounds. At our school, we recognized and celebrate these differences. We work to ensure that all students can learn in a way that is best for them and meets their individual needs. We ensure staff and students understand the importance to celebrate diversity and learn from others.
I love how my students come to school eager to learn and ready to put their best foot forward. They want to be in school and become the best they can be. They are an inspiration.
My Project
These dictionaries will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. Part of the second grade exploration of books is learning new vocabulary words to enhance their reading and writing experiences. As second graders, we learn new words each day! These dictionaries will help us explore the new words we learn.
They will give students the confidence to explore the new words around them independently and take charge of their learning.
Right now, we only have one dictionary in our classroom. With the dictionaries from this project, we will have one dictionary per two students. This will allow the students to explore how to use the dictionaries, experiment with finding words, and continue to help my students grow into stronger readers and writers. My students already have an astonishing interest in learning, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed world.
