Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The High School that I teach at is very much like a big family. Many of these students are coming in with 3-5 grade reading levels, which makes it very hard to teach the subject without teaching reading skills and vocabulary. Most of the students that go here are economically disadvantaged and almost all are minorities. Some of the students who come here speak Spanish as their first language.

This project will help support teachers in implementing reading and vocabulary strategies for college. This resource will allow students to take more responsibility for their own learning.

The dictionaries that will be used in Biology will benefit our students by having quality definitions and help students understand how to use a dictionary as a resource.

You will make it possible to allow student so improve their vocabulary which in turn can allow them to understand more of the curriculum both in High School and College. Students will also be using the dictionaries to help them edit their research papers.
