Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 5th grade students have a thirst for knowledge and they love to write and develop their vocabulary. Many times they ask for help with spelling, or with finding a synonym or antonym for vocabulary words. They currently don't have the resources or quick access to the materials they need.

My students come from an economically disadvantaged part of southern California and although they are faced with many challenges in their home lives, they come to school everyday ready to learn.

It is a pleasure to watch them grow and develop into great learners.

My Project

With the gift of a classroom set of dictionaries and thesauruses, my students will have the opportunity to use these books to develop their vocabulary, find antonyms and synonyms, assist with spelling patterns, parts of speech, and provide rich, powerful words for their writing. I can't wait to see what they can achieve with access to the power of words at their finger tips.

This project is important because I believe that my students would benefit greatly from the access to personal dictionaries and thesauruses to aid in all areas of the curriculum.
