My Students

My group is a wonderful class, full of amazing kids. I have a very wide variety of learners, including a highly capable cluster. My two biggest priorities in the classroom are creating an amazing learning environment and teaching the students in a way that is best for them. Through my career, I have found that one size does not fit all when it comes to education. We are a small school that has experienced exponential growth, so everything is a little crazy right now. Thanks for your support!

My Project

Students have a very difficult time using dictionaries to find words. I feel that it is partly due to a lack of experience using them. Giving students a quality reference material and access to it will make a huge impact on their word understandings.

A thesaurus will be very beneficial for the students' writing.

Technology is wonderful, but it is having some negative impacts on student's critical thinking regarding editing, word choice, and spelling. Spell check is creating bad habits, like"clicking without thinking it through." The act of assessing whether a chosen word was an appropriate substitute is something that will enhance their writing.
