Help me give my students their favorite fidget or snack as something for them to look forward to earning with their Diamond Mine stamps on school store day!
Our school is an alternative school with many smart, energetic, and talented students, however, they face so many challenges. Our students face unique challenges with mental health issues, substance use issues, family home-life issues, and a general lack of access to resources.
We focus on the whole student and on helping the student show growth emotionally, behaviorally, academically, and socially.
Being able to reward them for their growth and progress with items that they may have a hard time getting otherwise is really important. We have a school store where students can shop with their Diamond Mine points they are able to earn during the day from various staff members.
Not only does our school store serve as a place where students can get either needed or desired items or as a reward for growth, but it also is something that provides a positive school experience for our students. Our diamond mine improves our climate and culture in general!
My Project
Our school store is something that students look forward to every other week. They are able to shop with their Diamond Mine stamps that they earn for showing growth academically, socially, emotionally, and/or behaviorally. A percentage of our students come from poverty, so being able to earn their favorite chip, toy, or fidget at school is really important. I am writing this project in hopes of getting more supplies for the Diamond Mine. I have asked for spicy chips, slime & slime kits, and various fidgets as these are the most student requested items for the school store. Having a Diamond Mine store helps us create a positive school experience for our students, helps increase our student climate and culture, and helps us reward students for showing growth. This store is completely funded out of donations, so we appreciate anything that you may be able to give so that we can continue to office this experience to our students!
