My students need a new listening center, with wireless headphones, 2 beanbag seats and a CD/cassette player to enable them to become fluent readers.
This project expired on September 8, 2012.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
With the many budget cuts facing schools and the growing enrollment it is a daily challenge to meet the needs of our students in the classroom. We have to be creative in obtaining the necessary materials to teach.
We are at a Pre-K through 3rd grade Title I public school campus in Texas with approximately 500 students.
We are in a rapidly growing area and our classrooms are nearly at capacity. I currently have 24 kindergarten students in my classroom. They are eager to learn and love listening to stories and music.
The listening center materials that we have requested will allow 6 students to listen to a story or music on cd while wearing headphones. The listening center I had broke and we have to listen to stories without headphones which disturbs the other students in class.
Listening to stories read aloud helps the students build vocabulary and expression when they begin reading on their own.
They desperately need the experience of hearing a variety of people read aloud a wide variety of texts.
