This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching some very hard working students! They are empathetic and care about others. I want to channel this energy in meaningful ways that provide opportunities for them and our community. I have students with a variety of interests and aptitudes, so it is important to find activities that engage them. The items in this project will help me accomplish this.
I am excited to get to work with these wonderful students as they figure out who they are and their place in the world.
I am often challenged to come up with innovative ways to engage them. As we are embarking on adventures in STEM, I have found it necessary to bring in additional materials. Students are excited by hands-on materials that tie into their lives. With that being said, we got a 3D printer and need devices dedicated to students being able to use our new 3D printer.
My Project
My students have access to a 3D printer but need a device that can be dedicated to designing. We only have my computer that can be used for 3D printing and have to make it work with 60 students. They need access to devices that can be used during the day.
Students are working on design learning and will make prototypes with the 3D printer as one of the steps in that process.
For example, we are currently working on projects with the Raspberry Pi and would like to design cases and accessories to compliment those projects. Students taking an art stance will also use these devices to create materials for their projects.
