I work with 24 students within the Early Childhood Special Education Program. The students are split in half with 12 three year olds in the morning class and 12 four year olds in the afternoon class.
Students in the Early Childhood Special Education classroom all receive individualized support to address their unique learning needs.
Based on student's needs they receive speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and/or physical therapy. Students within the program benefit from added visuals, language support, and one-one or small group support.
The requested chairs will help to manage classroom behaviors during circle time and increase student's abilities to engage and learn. Thank you in advance for supporting our students unique learning needs!
My Project
My students currently sit on the carpet during "circle time" where they engage in learning activities as a whole group. All of the students display some degree of difficulty sitting criss-cross (on their bottoms), keeping their hands to themselves, and staying seated in a non-specific spot on the rug.
We are requesting developmentally appropriate cube chairs to promote engagement and learning during circle time.
These cube chairs will give students a specific spot to sit during circle time, space away from their peers so they cannot touch one another, and sensory input for comfort. These cube chairs are versatile and are designed for optimal learning for students in early childhood and special education.
