Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are very eager learners. They want to know as much as possible about each new concept that is presented in their classes. They are working hard to become well-educated, caring, and responsible citizens.
Several of the students need assistance with reading comprehension.
Having materials that focus on one reading comprehension skill at a time will enable the students to master those skills, such as getting the main idea, making inferences, identifying fact and opinion, and more, and better understand what they're reading.
My Project
These SRA Specific Skills for Reading books, at the prep and picture levels, will enable our kindergartners and first graders to work on strengthening their reading comprehension skills as they learn to decode texts.
By using these books, the students will be able to identify main ideas, find details, correctly sequence texts, draw conclusions, determine cause & effect, compare and contrast, identify facts and opinions, make inferences, and use phonics and word study.
The extensive practice applying each of these reading skills to texts at their instructional reading levels will allow the students to build strong foundations of reading skills.
