Developing Picasso's in Pre-K

My students need these easels because our other ones were destroyed in Hurricane Harvey. These are so good for helping develop the muscles in their arms in order to get them ready to write.

My Students

My Pre-K classroom is shared with the PPCD (Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities) classroom. Our children range in ages from 3-5. Children in Texas must qualify for Pre-K due to being economically disadvantaged, homeless, have limited English proficiency, are in the foster care system, or have a parent who is active-duty military or died during military service. It is so neat to watch the interaction between all of the children. The 4-5 year old's like to help with the 3 year old's by showing them how to sing songs, guiding them as we walk to and from places, playing with them at center time and helping swing them on the playground.

My Project

These easels will help our Pre-K children develop the large muscles in their arms in order to help them get ready to write.

The easels promote creativity as the children use a variety of art materials such as watercolors, crayons, markers and chalk.

These easels will be used daily during "Center Time." Children can't wait to come to the easel to create their own work of art. They love to write their own name, draw pictures and let teachers dictate what their picture is about. They also love to tell their friends and their teachers about their painting or other creation.
