My Students
My students come from a vibrant community that is rich in culture and history. They enjoy learning more about the contributions that people like them have made in history, and they hope to eventually leave their own mark on the world.
My students are dedicated to using their education to improve the world, not just for themselves, but for all of us.

My Project
My students are creative souls who are beginning to find their voice. To encourage them to find poetic inspiration in their everyday lives and thoughts, I am asking for a class set of books and I will guide them through a reading of "The Poet X, by Elizabeth Acevedo. Students will write their own poems, and they will use the requested document camera to collaboratively read, annotate, and revise their work.
This project will remind students that their lives are are worthy subjects of novels and poetry, and will encourage them to lift their voices and tell their stories long after they step out of my classroom.
Their stories inspire, amaze, break hearts, and heal. Their stories demand to be told and heard by the world.
