Mrs. Putney from Gaston OR is requesting Books through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Developing Lifelong Readers

My students need 12 copies of Wonder By: R.J. Palacio.

My Students

Developing lifelong readers is an invigorating challenge. Providing high-interest text at the child's just-right level gives students the opportunity experience joy in the reading process.

As the school's interventionist I support students through targeted, systematic small group instruction.

Students come to my classroom to develop additional skills needed to access grade-level content in their homeroom. A majority of my students lack a text-rich home environment. Having limited exposure to books has narrowed their ability to develop as readers.

My Project

These copies of Wonder by: R.J. Palacio will provide my students with high-interest text at their just-right level. Students will engage in small group and independent reading experiences, as well as meaningful discussions, throughout the reading of this New York Times bestselling novel. Students will have the opportunity to read the text at home as well as at school. The opportunity to read a high interest text will open the door to a world of reading that is joyous and exciting. Through your support of this project, students will have the opportunity to develop lifelong reading skills that they will take with them for the rest of their lives.

Your donation will put a new and exciting text in the hands of children who have limited access to books.

Thanks to your generous support, students will be given the opportunity to read a stimulating text that captures the heart of issues such as self image, bullying, and kindness.
