After Health and Physical Education is offered to all students in ninth grade, all students are encouraged to continue their journey in our Physical Conditioning and Personal Fitness classes. Because of this, classes are comprised of students from many different backgrounds. There are differences socially, academically, physically, economically, and in household make-up. As a relatively small, rural high school and community, our students sometimes get bunched together by outsiders, but we have as many differences as everyone else. My job is to make sure that they all receive the chance to excel not only in the classroom but when they continue through life. All of our students in the PC/PF classes have chosen to take the class to better themselves and improvement is what we stress above all else.
We are becoming very intentional about offering all students a chance to progress and excel at their own pace and according to their own needs.
This project will go a long way in providing this opportunity through specific equipment that we can use to teach the fundamentals and expand on our available activities all at once!
My Project
Our goal in our strength and conditioning classroom is to provide all students with a foundation that will insure that everyone develops proper form and remains healthy in their strength training. The form bars will allow them to focus on form on our foundational movements without adding the stress of a weighted bar. The resistance bands and assorted attachments will allow them to increase their stretching and also move beyond traditional weight lifting movements.
These items will help make the weight room safer while developing the strength, health, and flexibility of our students and athletes.
