This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is a third grade magnet technology class. It is designed to promote technology in the classroom. Our school is a Georgia public school serving over twelve hundred students. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds but they come to school ready to learn.
My students are very well-mannered and bright students.
Many of them face some challenges but they are eager to learn new things. They crave learning that is both meaningful and relevant to their life.
My Project
My vision is to promote a love for reading by providing grade appropriate chapter books for our classroom library. Most of my students have transitioned from beginning readers to more advanced readers. Therefore, chapter books would be a great start to support and improve literacy in the classroom.
I want to provide an environment where students enjoy reading.
This will set the pace for students to develop an appetite for reading that they will be able to stick with throughout life. Also, I want the students to know that reading can be a brilliant way of escaping the world's stresses and can help develop their creativity.
