I work at a school district that serves a student community that is 90% Native American. They are respectful, motivated, and eager to learn. Despite all their daily obstacles they are resilient and strive for any learning opportunity. Although most of our families live below the poverty level, it does not damper their willingness to learn and do well at school.
My Project
Students enhance their critical thinking and problem solving skills by looking at a task and deciding what is the best approach to complete the task. Students also learn to work together and accept differing perspectives of solving a problem. These are all crucial life long skills for students to develop.
The STEM materials that will be used in the classroom will help my students develop their passion for learning through STEM.
These students are so brilliant with all of their discoveries, inventions, and ideas that I would LOVE to get even more STEM into their hands. The different kits will allow students to experiments with different aspects of STEM. The magnet products will provide for some buy in and engagement. These materials will also give my students the ability to be more hands-on in STEM and grow a STEM mindset.
