My Students

Third grade is a year of amazing growth for students. Students work diligently on learning their multiplication facts, writing detailed stories, and working on reading skills. All of this could not be possible without the support of community members and parents.

My class of 21 students is filled with many different personalities and backgrounds.

I have students of different cultures, as well as different beliefs. Our school is made up of almost 400 students (25% which are free/reduced) who try to embody our 3 major school rules of being respectful, responsible, and safe. Every day teachers encourage students to dream, believe, think, and achieve.

My Project

Many of my students are still working on foundational reading skills. This struggle impacts their ability to move on to comprehension of text. My students want to be like their peers and working on the same skills.

With the addition of StoryWorks Jr, my students will have the opportunity to help close the gaps in their learning.

StoryWorks Jr is geared for 2nd, 3rd and struggling readers in the upper grades. They offer engaging, high interest stories that are on their independently and instructional reading levels. These magazines will also provide my students exposure to several different genres of writing at their level.
