This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school. All of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Most of the students in my class have challenges accessing technology at home.
Many of my third graders do not have access to books at home.
They would enjoy the exposure to various authors and to different third grade reading series.
My students are eager to increase in their reading skills and to develop as a leader in their school. As we read together, we grow together.
My Project
Third graders are just beginning to read books of their choice. They do not have a lot of exposure to various series or authors.
Third grade students desire to read exciting books.
Third graders love Junie B. Jones books. I want to provide them with books that are age appropriate and that spark their interests. Also, I would like for the books to be culturally diverse and reflect characters that look like them. Dyamonda Daniel is a new series that tells the adventures of a third grade African American girl.
These books will help boost the interest levels of my students and start them on a lifetime journey of reading.
