My Students
My students are kindergarteners through second graders who are below grade level readers in a low socioeconomic school. They are in need of reading intervention or have been identified as having dyslexia. I serve them in a small group setting using two different programs. Helping struggling students get a strong foundation early sets them up to be successful later! I want to help build my students' confidence at an early age. If I can help them feel successful now they will have the confidence to keep pushing through as they move through school. I love how hard my students work despite their challenges and want to encourage them in as many ways as possible.
My Project
Every child learns to read, but they don't all learn in the same way. With the help of your donation, my students would be able to use technology in conjunction with what we are learning in our groups. The iPad would allow students to have a fun way to practice their letter formations, blending words, and matching sounds with letters or pictures through educational apps.
New technological programs and apps are being developed every day that will assist my students to become their best yet.
Your donation would allow my dyslexic students and struggling readers to practice letter formations correctly, get their creative thoughts on paper for their teachers by teaching keyboarding skills, fun phonic apps, and speech-to-text apps. Technology added to their time in a small group would offer a way of reducing stress while learning to read and write. Help me set each child up for a love of learning and success!
