Help me give my students sketching pencils, colored pencils, and sketch pads so they have the opportunity to form their drawing club and form relationships with kids who have similar interests.
I work in a very special middle school for only our 6th-grade population. I am so lucky to work with this energetic age group. Sixth grade is the first chance students in our district have to join clubs. Kids often come up with new ideas for clubs and find an adult to run it for them but are very limited on supplies.
I am so fortunate to get to work with kids who are passionate about drawing.
They are going to meet weekly to share their love of art, but would really benefit from having "real" drawing supplies.
I am really looking forward to our students forming friendships with others who have similar interests. I am hopeful this club will spark a lot of new friendships for kids.
My Project
These drawing tools and materials will allow blooming artists to form a club at school and share their love of drawing with each other.
The drawing pencils, colored pencils, and sketch pads will allow kids to express themselves and connect with others.
Students will meet once a week with their new materials and create their art. This kind of an atmosphere allows the less outgoing students to communicate through their creations. Drawing activates both sides of the brain and is truly a calming activity for kids.
I look forward to giving 6th-grade students the opportunity to share a bit of themselves with others through art. It is much easier to make friends when you are with kids who share a passion for the same thing you do.
