My students need paper, pens, binders, and markers.

Chances are you've had to solve a problem you thought would stump you. You looked at all of the possible options and evidence and worried whether you could come up with the best possible outcome. In my classroom, my students face that challenge head on with the literature they read or listen to.
My students are talkative, creative, and bursting with energy.
They love to write, take videos and pictures, make play lists, and connect to the outside world through their devices. They also are thinkers. They write, take notes, are detectives, and analyze the old fashion way. My school is part rural/part suburban, located in western Metro Atlanta. We love to see our students shine through their projects and activities.
During the 2016 Spring Semester, I beta-tested this unit with three classes as we analyzed this show and its amazing content. We listened, discussed, wrote, mapped, tweeted, podcasted, etc. about the show. Students acted as detectives as they kept their own notes, tracked the case and evidence as the show progressed and new information was presented. Students worked together to take the information and develop their own theories outside the ones presented by the show. They did this while providing precise evidence. We did this with very limited resources. My classes learned to become better thinkers, writers, team players, communicators, and more. This will be replicated in the next school year. The binders will provide my students a safe place to keep copies of the transcripts, which help with differentiation. The legal pads, pens, chart paper, and markers will help my students keep track of the evidence, characters, theories, etc. This materials will cover what my students cannot afford.
When my Spring 2016 classes beta tested this, we did this with limited resources and out of my own pocket.
I plan on opening the school year with this unit. I hope that with these donations my students will be able to go farther with their learning. They will be able to truly chart the progress of the case as well as work together in groups to better develop and show their work. I hope that these skills they develop in this unit will benefit further class studies as we continue in the year.
